  • For 15 days, apply a paste of gram flour (besan), milk (2 teaspoon) and lime juice(3-4 drops) on face and neck for 15 minutes and wash with water. You complexion should improve. Repeat every 2 weeks.
  • Make a paste of honey, milk, yogurt, and ground sesame seeds in equal proportions and apply on face and whole body.
  • Use milk with honey for scar-free skin. Milk has proteins and is a anti-tanner (it will get rid of scars and get you fair skin) and honey is nutritious and is anti-bacterial. Apply it and leave it on for about 15-20 minutes daily.
  • You can also grind five almonds and mix with 1 teaspoon of fresh cream and a few drops of lemon juice. Apply this paste to the face and neck. Leave on for about fifteen minutes.
  • Mix honey with equal amount of almond oil. Apply on the face every night.

  • Turmeric is an effective remedy for colds and throat infections. Take ½ a tsp of turmeric powder and mix it with 1 glass of warm milk. This should be done and taken twice a day.
  • Take one glass of warm water and pour 1 lemon juice and a tsp of honey in it and consume it once or twice on a daily basis. Lemon can be used effectively to treat common cold, as it increases the body resistance, decreases toxicity and reduces the duration of the illness.
  • Put 2-3 drops of salt water in your nose in the morning and before going to bed. Salt keeps the nasal passage moist; the saline solution also helps thin the mucous so you can get rid of it at regular intervals.
  • Take 1 tbsp of pepper powder and boil it in a cup of milk. Also add on a pinch of turmeric to it. Put some sugar for taste. Drink it once in a day for about three days.
  • Boil half a bowl of water, add few drops of eucalyptus oil and inhale the steam.
  • Have lots of liquids like tea, soups, etc, daily. This will replace important fluids lost during the cold and help flush out impurities.

Home Remedies for Alcoholism

Grapes: The most important home remedy for alcoholism is an exclusive diet, for a month or so…of grapes. Since the fruit contains the purest form of alcohol, it is an ideal yet healthy substitute for alcohol. Alcoholics should take three meals a day of fresh grapes at five-hourly intervals. The success of this treatment depends on the determination of the alcoholic to stop drinking.

Bitter Gourd: The juice of the leaves of Bitter Gourd is an antidote for alcohol intoxication. It is also useful for a liver damaged due to alcoholism. Three teaspoons of this juice, mixed with a glass of butter milk, should be taken every morning for a month.

Celery: The juice of celery exercises a sobering effect on the patient and is an antidote to alcohol. Half a glass of celery juice mixed with an equal quantity of water should be taken once daily for a month.

Dry skin has a low level of sebum and can be prone to sensitivity. The skin has a parched look.


Causes of Dry Skin:

In healthy skin the sebaceous glands release an oily substance called sebum, which keeps the skin moist, supple and waterproof. Sebum, together with other natural oils, known as lipids, and natural moisturising factors (NMFs), form a barrier known as the hydro-lipid system. This barrier acts to keep 'foreign substances' out of our bodies and keeps water inside the body for as long as possible. In dry skin this barrier is no longer intact so the skin suffers from increased moisture loss.

Dry skin becomes particularly prevalent as we get older, as our bodies don't produce these natural oils so effectively. Babies and young children are also often susceptible to dry skin because the oil producing glands haven't developed properly.Whilst some people have an inherited predisposition to dry skin, there are also a number of external factors which can contribute. These are more harmful in skin which is already dry and where the hydro-lipid barrier system is impaired. Dry, cold and windy weather can cause the skin to peel, flake and thicken, as can the sun. Central heating, air conditioning, poor ventilation, chemicals, detergents, soap and solvents can all play a part in causing dry skin. Excessive contact with water also reduces the skin's natural moisturizing factors.

1. Ingredients:
5 teaspoons fresh coconut oil
5 teaspoons olive oil
2 teaspoons glycerine
4 teaspoons beeswax
5 tablespoons cucumber juice
A pinch of borax
Method:
Melt the oil and wax by the double boiling method. Warm cucumber juices, glycerin and borax in a separate bowl until borax is dissolved. Add the cucumber, borax and glycerin mixture to the oil and whisk the mixture till it thickens. Excess may be stored in the fridge.
2. Ingrediesnts:
1 egg
1 teaspoon of honey,
1/2 teaspoon of olive oil and
few drops of rose water
Method:
Mix all the ingredients thoroughly and use as a mask.
Diet:

  • Eat a balanced diet that includes vegetables, fruits, grains, seeds, and nuts. Eat quality protein from vegetable sources. Increase your intake of raw foods.

  • Eat foods such as garlic, onions, eggs, and asparagus that are high in sulfur, which helps to keep the skin smooth and youthful.

  • Consume plenty of yellow and orange vegetables. These are high in beta-carotene, an antioxidant. Carrots are especially good.

  • Unrefined, cold-pressed flax seed oil used daily on salads and baked potatoes, or mixed into any dishes which do not require heating to high temperatures will make dry skin moist and supple. Flax seed oil contains the essential fatty acids omega-3 alpha linolenic acid and omega-6 linoleic acid. These are converted in the body into hormone, like substances called Prostaglandins, which support skin health.

  • Cantaloupes, carrots and apricots are heating foods for dry skin because they are rich in the vitamins A and C, both important for a supple, smooth skin. Eat them whole or take as fresh juices. Eat foods rich in pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), such as quark, raw. milk cheese, natural plain yogurt, kefir, leafy green vegetables, nutritional yeast and wheat germ. Pantothenic acid is need for the synthesis of fats and oils used by the skin.

  • Drink at least 2 quarts of quality water every day to keep the skin well hydrated.

  • Avoid fried foods, animal fats, and heat-processed vegetable oils. Use cold- pressed oils only. Heating oils leads to the production of free radicals, which have a destructive effect on the skin.

  • Do not drink soft drinks or eat sugar, chocolate, potato chips, or other junk foods.
